Monmouth Museum receives national accreditation

The Monmouth Museum, Lincroft, has been awarded accreditation by the American Association of Museums, the highest honor a museum can receive. It certifies that a museum operates according to standards set forth by the museum profession, manages its collections responsibly, and provides quality service to the public. Roughly 750 out of 8,000 national museums receive accreditation.

"We hope the people of the tristate area share our pride in having earned this prestigious honor," stated Dorothy Morehouse, president and chief executive officer of the museum.

Stated Thomas McClintock, chairman of the board of trustees: "We invite everyone in our community to help us celebrate this award by visiting the Monmouth Museum and exploring its fine programs and exhibitions."

The museum will have its "58th Annual Open Juried Exhibition" through Nov. 4. It has two galleries devoted to children, the Wonderwing for children age 6 and under, and the Children’s Wing for children age 7-12. Presently at the children’s wing is "Buried Treasure: Search for the Missing Tomb," an archaeological exhibit.

The museum is located on the Brookdale Community College campus, parking lot No. 1, Lincroft. For more information, call the museum at (732) 747-2266.
