Ice Boat and Yacht Club to celebrate anniversary

The North Shrewsbury Ice Boat and Yacht Club, Red Bank, will celebrate its 120th anniversary with an exhibit at the Red Bank Public Library, Nov. 14-Dec. 28.

The exhibit will include photographs and historical items. The library is located at 84 W. Front St., Red Bank.

The club, formed in 1880, is America’s oldest club devoted to ice sailing. The photographs in the exhibit will be on display for the first time.

Also on display will be a side runner from the "Rocket" (first class iceboat), built in the 1880s, will be on display at the library. The 50-foot boat is currently being restored by the club.

The exhibit may be seen during regular library hours, Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Tuesday, Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
