Boating workshops in Red Bank start March 8

Irwin Marine, Red Bank, will present three free workshops for new boat owners beginning with the first session to be conducted by local boating author Donald Launer on March 8 at 7:30 p.m.

Launer will discuss the various recreation activities available to boaters. Co-sponsor is West Marine of Eatontown.

Session two will be March 15 at 7:30 p.m. Captain Dave Chouinard of the Fly Hatch, Shrewsbury, will discuss fly fishing in the estuary system of Raritan and Sandy Hook bays.

Also featured, will be Capt. Bill Schultz, the Raritan river keeper who will explain his environmental activities on the Raritan River, Sandy Hook Bay, and the local estuary. The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will also discuss the Guard’s role in water safety and security.

The service staff of Irwin Marine will address maintenance and dealing with the dealership service and warranty departments at the third workshop March 23 at 9:30 a.m. Following the workshop will be a cookout.
