RALPH CHESTER ANDERSEN, 82, of Red Bank died Feb. 17 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Staten Island, N.Y., prior to moving to Red Bank 12 years ago. He was a retired customer service representative for Ebasco Services, N.Y., for 30 years. He also worked for the B&O Railroad as an electrician’s assistant. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Staten Island. He was a Sea Scout Leader for the National Council of Boy Scouts of America. His memberships included the Electric Railroad Association, and he was a member and supporter of the Lieder Kranz Foundation, N.Y. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Carl W. and Elizabeth Andersen of New Port Richey, Fla.; his sister, Audrey C. Moodie of Middletown; two nieces, Sheila Ohnmacht and Nancy Pollinger, both of Middletown; and several other nieces and nephews. ALICE F. RONAN, 96, of the River Plaza section of Middletown died March 4 at Riverview Extended Care Facility, Red Bank. Born in Boston, Mass., she resided there prior to moving to Middletown in 1975. She worked in the business office of Filene’s Department Store, Boston, until she married in 1930. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. She is survived by two sons, Frank Ronan of Deale, Md., and Paul Ronan of Sausalito, Calif.; two daughters, Barbara Ronan O’Hern of Little Silver, and Maureen Ronan of Hyannis, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered March 8 at 10 a.m. at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Interment will be March 11 at 10 a.m. at Old Calvary Cemetery, Boston. ANTHONY T. MAGARINO, 69, of Ocean Township died Jan. 15 at the Center for Hospice Care, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, he resided in West Long Branch prior to moving to Ocean Township in 2001. He was the owner and operator of High Spot Barber Shop, Long Branch, for 38 years. He was a communicant of St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Carol Carelli Magarino of Ocean Township; three brothers, William Sr. of Red Bank, and Sam and Robert, both of Sparta; his sister, Josephine Chevalier of Long Branch; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Interment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Oceanport. EDITH H. SCHLAGE HAHN, 81, of Tinton Falls died Jan. 29 at home. Born in Magdeburg, Germany, she came to the United States in 1927 and resided in New York prior to moving to Tinton Falls 35 years ago. She was a retired elementary school teacher at various schools in New York and New Jersey for several years. Prior to that, she was employed by the Dow Chemical Company, New York, for several years. She was a member of the Luther Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church, Tinton Falls. She was a member of Reach to Recovery of Monmouth County and the ASPCA of Monmouth County. Mrs. Hahn was predeceased by her husband, George V., who died in 1999. She is survived by two daughters, Janet Moran of Brick and Evelyn Sauer of Sayreville; a brother, Gerhardt Schlage of Rockaway, N.Y.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several relatives in Germany. A funeral service was offered at Luther Memorial Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. CHARLES "TODD" BALL JR., 74, of Hood River, Ore. died Jan. 23. Born in East Orange, he was raised and educated in Long Branch. He was a chemist and plating manager for Luhr Jensen & Sons, Hood River, retiring in 1992. He served with the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946. His affiliations included the Masonic Lodge, of which he was a life member and Worship Master, a member and ex-commander of American Legion Post No. 22, and the Hood River Elks Club, all Hood River. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley Chapter, Detroit, Mich., and the Al Bedo Shrine Club, Billings, Mont. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Ball of Hood River; his son, David C. Ball of Bozeman, Mont.; his sister, Mary Ann Salsgiver of Mill City, Wash.; three grandchildren; three nieces; four nephews; and several cousins.
