Business Briefs Diana Waltz, R.N., Leonardo section of Middletown, was recently named the winner of the 2002 Excellence in Nursing Award by Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. The annual award is presented to a Riverview nurse chosen by her peers as exemplifying the nursing profession. A two-time nurse excellence nominee, Waltz works on Riverview’s surgical day stay unit in the peri-operative area. She began at the center 22 years ago as a "Riverteen" junior volunteer in pediatrics, then as a medical explorer providing education and mentoring for young people wishing to pursue careers in the health-care field. She also developed a program that brings nurses to visit local Scout groups, junior high and high school students, encouraging nursing as a career for life. Waltz is nationally certified in medical/surgical nursing, ACLS certified, and maintains professional membership with the American Society of Post Anesthesia Nurses. Her community activities include serving on a volunteer first aid squad, serving as an adviser and teacher of first aid to cadet members, and a Boy Scout leader. She also organized a local food purchasing group, Twinlight Organics, to enable families to buy healthier foods at affordable prices. Blythe House celebrates fifth anniversary The assisted living community of Blythe House, Tinton Falls, recently marked its fifth anniversary with a celebration at the Hartford Drive facility. Present at the ceremony were Tinton Falls Mayor Ann McNamara and State Senator Joseph Kyrillos Jr. (R-13), who presented a joint legislative resolution honoring Blythe House. The facility was the county’s first assisted living community. It is staffed by 50 individuals who provide round-the-clock nursing care and assistance with activities of daily living. Tim Harrington is president of the facility, and Maureen Winter, a registered nurse, serves as executive director. New board members appointed by foundation Riverview Foundation, the fund-raising arm of Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, has appointed Meredyth Armitage, Tracy Boyle and John F. Krahnert to its board of trustees. Rumson resident Armitage has many civic affiliations, including the Rumson Borough Council, Rumson Planning Board, the Oceanic Free Library and the Monmouth Park Charity Fund. She is the owner of Meredyth Armitage Interiors. Boyle, an Atlantic Highlands resident, is active in fund-raising efforts for the Monmouth Museum, Lincroft section of Middletown, and Rumson Country Day School. She also serves as director of development for Special People United to Ride (SPUR), and is a member of the Foundation’s golf invitational committee. Krahnert, Colts Neck, is the retired president of AXA Advisors, a registered broker/dealer and investment advisory for a subsidiary of AXA Financial Inc. He is also involved with the National Association of Life Underwriters and General Agents and Managers Conference. Medical firm moves to new Toms River location Professional Orthopaedic Associates has relocated its office formerly at 368 Lakehurst Road, Toms River to the Orthopaedic Medical Center of New Jersey, 1430 Hooper Ave., Toms River. The firm has been serving the Monmouth/Ocean County area for 15 years, and also has offices in Tinton Falls and Marlboro. Local car dealer named to President’s Club The auto dealership of Red Bank Volvo has been awarded a spot in Volvo Cars of North America Retailers of Excellence President’s Club. The club recognizes outstanding achievement in both sales and customer satisfaction. The awards were based on the retailer’s performance for 2001, as well as internal operations objectives and achieving high levels of customer satisfaction in sales and service. |
