Holiday party for ESL students Dec. 11

The MAECOM Adult School, 100 Tornillo Road, Tinton Falls, will hold its annual holiday party for its ESL (English as a Second Language) classes Dec. 11. The event will feature the food and culture of various countries represented by the students.

Poetry reading at Red Bank library Dec. 13

The Red Bank Public Library, 84 W. Front St., will welcome Thomas Murray for a poetry reading Dec. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Murray will read from his book, "The Spirit of ‘69," an anthology of poems.

A Red Bank resident and retired social studies teacher, Thomas is currently working on his memoirs, "Just a Kid From Hell’s Kitchen."

Center announces blood drives for December

Central Jersey Blood Center, Shrewsbury, has announced the following local blood drives:

• Dec. 5 from 2-5 p.m. at Health South, 2 Center Plaza, Tinton Falls;

• Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, Ridge Road, Rumson;

• Dec. 11 from 4-8 p.m., a drive by the Woman’s Club of Tinton Falls, at Tinton Falls Fire Company, 695 Tinton Ave.;

• Dec. 22 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Riverview Medical Center, 1 Riverview Plaza, Red Bank (gift for all donors).

The donation process takes about an hour. Donors must also complete a medical history interview and have a mini-physical (temperature, iron, pulse and blood pressure screening).

Interested donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. All donors must present identification with signature at time of registration.

Donations may also be made at Central Jersey Blood Center, 494 Sycamore Ave., Shrewsbury. To schedule an appointment, call the center at (732) 842-5750.

‘O Tannenbaum’ holiday bazaar Dec. 5, 6

Christ Church Shrewsbury will hold its Christmas bazaar, "O Tannenbaum: Homage to God in Nature," Dec. 5 from 5-9 p.m. and Dec. 6 from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The church is at Sycamore Avenue and Broad Street.

The bazaar will feature wreaths, a "trinkets and treasures" section, books, hand-crafted items, homemade items such as baked goods and frozen hors’ d’oeuvres, face painting by Mrs. Claus, poinsettias, jewelry, lunch, a raffle and a silent auction.
