Red Bank YMCA names new branch executive

The Community YMCA, Red Bank, has announced that Neptune resident Ramona Johnson has joined its staff as branch executive of The Count Basie Achievement Branch, Red Bank.

Johnson grew up in Red Bank, received a four-year athletic scholarship to Monmouth College, West Long Branch, and graduated in 1996. She is currently teaching in the Long Branch School District, and will leave that position this month to assume her position at the achievement branch.

The YMCA has also announced that Katrina Parrish, who has been with the "Y" since 2001, was recently presented with the New Jersey Minority Achiever Award. The Neptune resident has been a teen program director at the Red Bank YMCA and, most recently, interim director at the Count Basie Achievement Branch.

The award recognizes and honors individuals from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds for outstanding professional accomplishments and extensive community involvement.
