Mary K. Brooks

Miss Brooks, 48, of Shrewsbury Township died July 8 at home. She was born in Red Bank. Miss Brooks was an employee of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Freehold, before her retirement. Prior to that, she was employed by the Neptune City Police Department and the Fair Haven Police Department. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, and was a member of Shrewsbury First Aid Squad for several years. Miss Brooks was predeceased by her father, William F. Brooks, in 1983; her mother, Patricia M. Brooks, in 1999; and a sister, Michele Brooks-LoBosco, in 1998. She is survived by a sister, Patricia M. Rackley of Texas; four nieces; and one nephew. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Anthony’s Church, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements. Wilson T. "Billy" Hubbard

Mr. Hubbard, 65, of Little Silver died July 8 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Long Branch, he had resided in the area 43 years. He was a salesman for Consolidated Simon of Union, Neptune, retiring June 30. He was an Eagle Scout, Boy Scouts of America Troop 71. He was a member of the Order of the Arrow, Past Great Sachem Redman Tecumseh, Tribe No 60. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid fan of NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing). Mr. Hubbard was predeceased by his mother, Irma Hendrickson Hubbard. He is survived by his wife, L. Anne Rosse Hubbard; two sons and daughters-in-law, David R. and Theresa Hubbard of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Nicholas J. and Cathy Hubbard of Little Silver; his father, E. Wilson Hubbard of Long Branch; a brother, Eugene Richard Hubbard of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township; and five grandchildren. Interment was at Hamilton Cemetery, Neptune. Mrs. Connors, 102, of Oceanport died June 20 at home. She resided in Monmouth Beach, Atlantic Highlands and the Leonardo section of Middletown prior to moving to Oceanport in 1980. Mrs. Connors was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. She was a past member and president of St. Agnes School P.T.A., Atlantic Highlands, and a member of the Senior Citizens Club of Oceanport. She was predeceased by her husband, Maj. Michael J. Connors, in 1968; and two sons, Richard J. in 1979 and Robert F. in 2002. She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law, Thomas F. and Virginia C. Connors of Toms River, Michael J. Connors Jr. of Monticello, N.Y., and Edward J. Connors of Newport News, Va.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Florence J. and J. Robert Sagurton of Little Silver, and Joan D. Hayes of Northport, N.Y.; a sister, Josephine Bosch of Venice, Fla.; a daughter-in-law; 27 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Interment was at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, N.Y. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Oceanport First Aid Squad, P.O. Matilda Aspelund

Mrs. Aspelund, 99, of Eatontown died June 30 at Gateway Care Center, Eatontown. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Palisades Park before moving to Monmouth County in 1990. Mrs. Aspelund was a typist at Insurance Company of North America and at Western Electric, retiring in 1956. She was predeceased by her husband, Holberg Aspelund, in 1989. Surviving are two nieces, Teresa Giordano of Monmouth Beach and Evelyn Bonanno of Shrewsbury; and several grandnieces grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, and one great-great-grandniece. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Interment was at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Arrangements were by Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 077021.
