Mater Dei High School, Middletown, will be conducting sports camps for boys and girls at its athletic complex this summer. All camps will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. except for cheerleading which will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Camp schedule is as follows: football (8-14) June 26-30; boys basketball (8-16) July 10-14; girls basketball(8-17) July 24-28; cheerleading (8-15) June 26-28. The Jersey Spirit,
a new select girls U-15 soccer team, is forming to start play in the fall. Any girl born between Aug. 1, 1985 and July 31, 1987 is eligible to try out. For more information, call 536-2657.The New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association Inc. will be holding its fifth annual Golf Outing on May 19 at the Cream Ridge Golf Course beginning at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8. The second annual McGarry Agency Celebrity Golf Classic at the Manasquan River Golf Club will be held May 22 and will feature local sports celebrities from the New York/New Jersey area. Former New York Jet Bruce Harper, Steven Baker and Byron Hunt of the New York Giants’ Super Bowl teams, and former New York Met Bobby Ojeda have already signed up for the event.
A player from the New York-New Jersey Chapter of the National Football League Players Association and other sports organizations will accompany each foursome during the gold classic.
