      Two River Theatre Co.

      to perform ‘La Bête’

      Two River Theatre Company, Red Bank, will present La Bête now through Feb. 4. Performance times are: Wednesdays-Fridays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 8:30 p.m.; and Sundays, 3 p.m. Two additional performances will be held on Jan. 27 and Feb. 3 at 4 p.m. Tickets range in price from $19-35, depending on the night of performance. Discounts are available for seniors, groups of 10 or more and individuals under age 26. The performances will be held at the Algonquin Arts Theatre, 171 Main St., Manasquan.

      La Bête is a comedy that ran on Broadway and was produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stuart Ostrow. Inspired by Molière, it involves slapstick and poetry.

      Toughill named director of community health

      The Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey (VNACJ) has appointed Eileen Toughill, R.N., Ph.D. as its director of community health. Toughill will direct the agency’s community-based programs and serve as head of the newly created Centers for Excellence, which will encompass specialists in staff development, enterostomal therapy, nutrition and continence.

      Toughill directs VNACJ’s primary care centers in Asbury Park and Keyport, AIDS outreach programs in Monmouth and Middlesex counties, and a "Mobile Outreach Clinic" program.

      She has been with VNACJ since 1987, most recently serving as manager of long-term care. She earned her degree from Monmouth University, Long Branch; her master’s from Seton Hall University, South Orange; and her Ph.D. from New York University’s Division of Nursing.

      The Bayville resident is the 1999 recipient of the Mosby Geriatric Nurse Manager of the Year Award, presented by Geriatric Nursing. She is a member of the New Jersey State Board of Nursing and a trustee of the Arthur Brisbane Child Treatment Center and Phoebe’s Place.

      Ailey II to perform at Count Basie Theatre

      The Count Basie Theatre will present a performance by Ailey II (formerly the Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble) Jan. 27 at 8 p.m. Tickets range in price from $20, $28 or $35. The theater is at 99 Monmouth St., Red Bank.

      Ailey II is a dance company which merges the spirit and energy of young talent with emerging choreographers. The group was begun by Alvin Ailey in 1974 as a workshop for promising scholarship students from The Ailey School, New York. Ailey II emphasizes a balance of repertoire, technique and performance.
