      Thoughts go out to victims and their families
           I am a freshman at Penn State University on the University Park campus. I am, however, originally from Red Bank. We were all deeply affected by the tragedy of last week, and a little piece of our own worlds collapsed with the colossal structures in New York City and Washington, D.C.

           In the wee hours of Sept. 14, I woke up crying; I had dreamt I was looking at a picture of the New York skyline before Sept. 11. And with the tears came a flood of memories of living in lower Manhattan.

      Volunteer extends thanks, gratitude to all who helped
           On the day of the disaster in America, I was dispatched to the Highlands Marina to provide emergency medical care to the sick and injured from New York City. On my arrival I established a command structure and led a very large group of both paid and volunteer emergency responders. There were physicians, nurse practitioners, paramedics, EMTs, firefighters and police.

      Dramatic show of unity in Shrewsbury impresses
           I would like to congratulate the residents of Shrewsbury for the wonderful ceremony that was conducted at Borough Hall; the attendance was well over 1,000 plus with residents singing together and recognizing the many neighbors and friends lost to the tragic events at the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
