Re-electing Bennett Nov. 6 is a vote for the environment Re-electing Bennett Nov. 6 is a vote for the environment For those of us concerned about our natural resour-ces, traffic and water quality, it is vital we keep state Sen. John O. Bennett (R-12) in office. That is why I am pleased the Vote Environment Committee of the New Jersey Environmental Federation has endorsed his reelection to the Senate in the 12th Legislative District. Bennett was instrumental in the passage of the Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Enforcement Act, Pollution Cleanup Act, and other laws that helped clean up our beaches and made polluters pay for their wrongdoing. He was one of a few politicians who opposed the Monmouth County incinerator. If it was built, it could have been an environmental and financial nightmare for local taxpayers. I have known John for 10 years. I am confident we can count on him to be courageous in the future — putting his constituency and the environment first. We need his leadership to pass the next wave of pro-environmental laws — clean car, clean air, clean water, stop the sprawl and renewable energy bills. So if you live in the 12th District, remember to "vote environment" on Nov. 6 by re-electing Bennett for the state Senate. Ben Forest Red Bank |
