RED BANK — The Community YMCA has seen some changes lately; some new faces and some familiar faces will be wearing new hats.
Along with new director Daniel Kasambira, former executive director of the Metropolitan Chicago branch, the Red Bank branch has named a new vice chairman of finance.
Richard Ayres, a Little Silver resident, was named to that position.
Ayres has over 24 years’ experience as a financial professional, and holds a master’s degree in Business Administration, from Monmouth University, West Long Branch, and a bachelor’s degree from Upsala College of East Orange, now located in Rochelle Park.
Ayres has spent about 23 years in banking. Prior to coming to the Y, he was the business manager for the Darcy School, Livingston.
Ayres lives in Little Silver with his wife and three children and spends some of his free time coaching. He is also a physical fitness enthusiast, who has participated in, and completed, three Ironman Triathlons.
The executive committee of the YMCA approved the promotion of a number of current staff members.
Maureen Fitzgerald, who had been the Red Bank branch’s executive director and vice president of operations, was recently named as senior vice president of operations. Fitzgerald will help oversee the plans for expanding the number of branches in the area.
There are plans, according to the YMCA’s board of directors, to construct a new facility in the Northern Monmouth/Southern Middlesex Coun-ty area. There also has been some discussion about establishing programs in Long Branch, Neptune and Asbury Park, to better serve members of those communities.
Stacy Lastella, who had been working as the director of child care, will assume the responsibility of executive director of one of the upcoming branches.
George Hunt, formerly associate executive director of the Family Services Branch, has been named executive director of that area, effective Jan. 1.
Named as the new vice president of special projects is James Murray, who has had a long affiliation with the YMCA.
Murray has been the executive director of the Family Services branch for 27 years. In his new position, he will be responsible for new branch development and capital projects in northern Monmouth and southern Middlesex counties.
