      Chorale’s to hold open rehearsals Jan. 7 and 14

      The Shrewsbury Chorale will hold open rehearsals Jan. 7 and 14 from 7:45-10 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse, 1475 W. Front St., Lincroft section of Middletown.

      Singers must have choral experience, sight-reading ability, and be available for Tuesday evening rehearsals. All voice parts are being recruited.

      House tour nets $70K

      for VNA hospice program

      The holiday house tour sponsored by the Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of Central Jersey, Red Bank, recently raised $70,000 for VNA’s hospice program.

      The tour committee was comprised of Janice Barry Fannan, Middletown; Cheryl Morris, Shrewsbury; Marianne Avigdor, Long Branch; Kathy Ahn, Locust section of Middletown; and B.J. Henderson, Kathy Carter, Denise Buonopane and Jan Warshauer, Rumson.

      Floral arrangements were designed by the Garden Club of Fair Haven, Little Silver Garden Club, Navesink Garden Club, Rumson Garden Club, and Shrewsbury Garden Club. Rumson took top honors for "best club overall" for its arrangements, while Gotti Kelley, Tinton Falls, a Navesink Garden Club member, took "best in show" for the fourth time for her arrangement.

      Phebe Moon, Fair Haven, and Joan Sullivan, Rumson, took the "door prize" special award for best doorway arrangement. Both are members of the Garden Club of Fair Haven.
