New law violates citizens’ constitutional rights
I want to take this opportunity to commend the Red Bank Borough Council for putting their concern for us tenants well ahead of our rights as American citizens. Despite volumes of legal precedent regarding the sanctity of a person’s home, our brave-hearted leaders have invoked the outmoded code of in loco parentis to save tenants from the possibility of harm should a fire "happen" to break out where they live. Homeowners, egregiously, are excluded from the council’s concern.
So now all Red Bank tenants must, a.) register their vital statistics with the authorities, b.) allow the government into their homes, at will, to inspect their lifestyle, with no probable cause, and c.) register their living partners’ vital statistics with the authorities. Anyone not properly registered may not live in the home.
Any mayor and council that will put itself above the Supreme Court and the Constitution of the United States, just to protect me from being harmed ... well, it brings tears to my eyes.
