Slazyk the right choice for Tinton Falls school board

There are four candidates running and three seats available on the Tinton Falls Board of Education. The only female candidate, currently a teacher in Colts Neck and holding a master’s degree in education, is Michele Slazyk. At Meet the Candidate Night on March 19, she appeared enthusiastic and motivated and is hoping to be a member of the Board of Education because she believes she has something to offer to our district. Ms. Slazyk stated several times, "I am all about curriculum."

After attending the majority of Tinton Falls Board of Education meetings over the past several years, I am familiar with the current cast of constituents. Although there is strength among those remaining on the board, we are experiencing a significant loss as Tony Schaible, Jonathan Cohen and Marion Bontz step down from their current positions.

The upcoming election is important. If you do not attend board meetings, at least take the time to vote for Michele Slazyk, who will stand up for what is most important in education — the children.

Ms. Slazyk’s strong background in education means advanced understanding, meaningful experience, and vast knowledge about the field itself. She can contribute substantially toward making sure our schools are run well. School systems are service- and people-oriented agencies, not businesses. Having a background and being currently active in education, Michele Slazyk is the most appropriate candidate for a position on the Board of Education.
