Local towns to receive Green Acres funds

Assembly measure A-3926, sponsored by Assembly members Bonnie Watson Coleman, Reed Gusciora, Linda Greenstein and Gary L. Guear, recently passed the Legislature and will authorize more than $14 million for land for recreation or preservation.

The measure would appropriate $14.7 million from the Garden State Green Acres Preservation Trust Fund for grants or low-interests loans to local and county governments. Locally, Shrewsbury Borough was approved for $305,000 for recreation and open space. Oceanport Borough was approved to receive $282,500 for parks improvement development, and Rumson Borough was approved for $250,000 for Riverside Park development.
