Miss Cogan, 87, of Little Silver died June 17 at home. Born in Red Bank, she resided in Little Silver most of her life. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Miss Cogan was predeceased by two brothers, Edward J. Cogan and William Cogan Jr. She is survived by a sister-in-law, Anne Cogan of Glens Falls, N.Y.; two nieces and nephews; and several grandnieces and grandnephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. James Church. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Gertrude "Trudy" V. Gregg
Mrs. Gregg, 80, of Shrewsbury died June 22 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in New York City, she resided in Toms River prior to moving to Shrewsbury 60 years ago. Mrs. Gregg was a homemaker. Prior to that, she was a sales representative at Steinbach’s, Red Bank, and worked in the drafting department at Lakehurst Naval Air Station. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church at Red Bank-Tower Hill, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Women’s Circle. She also was a Girl Scout leader for several years. Mrs. Gregg was predeceased by a sister, May Applegate. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William E. Gregg Jr.; a son and daughter-in-law, William E. and Mary Gregg III of Wantage; a daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Robert Mielech of the Belford section of Middletown; and five grandchildren. Entombment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements.
Ronald M. Obach
Mr. Obach, 74, of Tinton Falls died June 9 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Ridgefield Park. Mr. Obach was employed at Fort Monmouth, where he performed military service for 27 years and retired with the rank of colonel. He was a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. He earned a master’s degree from Harvard University, Cambridge, Mass., and a master of military arts and science at the Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. He was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Rose Obach. Mr. Obach is survived by his wife, Ellen Walch Obach; a daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Fred Colson of Clearwater, Fla.; a son and daughter-in-law, Philip and Vera Obach of New Port Richey, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Jack Kaufhold of River Edge; a daughter-in-law, Selena Zito; two stepsons; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Interment was at the U.S. Military Academy, West Point. The Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch, was in charge of arrangements. Elizabeth "Betty" G. Strong
Mrs. Strong, 75, of Middletown died June 7 at home. Born in Red Bank, she resided in the Leonardo section of Middletown prior to moving to Shadow Lake Village, Middletown, 14 years ago. She was a retired medical receptionist at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She volunteered at the Food Pantry, Atlantic Highlands, and was a member of the Nifty Fifty Club at Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, William H. Strong Sr. in 1997. She is survived by two sons, Robert Strong and William H. Strong Jr., both of Long Branch; a daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and David Carhart of Leonardo; a sister, Margaret Lang of Fair Haven; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Vivian Scoles of Tinton Falls; a nephew; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.
