Fred J. Bruno

Mr. Bruno, 82, of Clermont, Fla., died Aug. 17 at Lake Harris Health Center, Leesburg, Fla. Born in Red Bank, he had lived in Shrewsbury before moving to Clermont 15 years ago. Mr. Bruno was a salesman at Shrewsbury Volkswagen and was the former proprietor of Riverside Bowling Lanes, Red Bank. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a former communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Mr. Bruno is survived by his wife, Carol Swoll Bruno; four sons, James F. Bruno of Leesburg, Fla., Patrick Bruno of Plant City, Fla., and F. Jay and Ronald Bruno of Clermont; three daughters, Jennifer L. Nelson of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Kathy and Sharon Bruno of Clermont; and three brothers, James Bruno of Little Silver, Dr. Anthony J. Bruno of Middletown, and Richard Bruno of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 19 Schoolhouse Road, Somerset 08873.

Vincent Havens

Mr. Havens, 69, of the Belford section of Middletown, died Aug. 22 at his home. Born in Jersey City, he had been a longtime resident of Middletown. Mr. Havens was a salesman before his retirement seven years ago. He served in the Air National Guard during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Middletown; and a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 2179 and the Knights of Columbus, both Middletown, and the Irish Federation of Monmouth County. Mr. Havens is survived by his wife of 37 years, Margaret (Powers) Havens; four sons and a daughter-in-law, Vincent and Matthew Havens, both of Belford, Paul and Jennifer Havens of Holmdel, and Christopher Havens of Long Branch; and two grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Catherine’s Church, followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.
