New work by Kerwick, Hudders

“Bird Becoming Wallpaper” by Jill Kerwick Beauregard Fine Art in Rumson is presenting a joint exhibit of the new work of William Hudders and Jill Kerwick. The artists have similar approaches to painting, creating realist works, whether rendering landscapes, cityscapes, still life or images from nature. Both artists manage to hint at surrealism in their work.

Kerwick, of Fair Haven, has been painting the suburban landscape for over a decade. Her new work feels charming and recognizable yet somewhat odd all at once. It’s not surprising to learn that a few of Kerwick’s current influences are Alfred Hitchcock and British cinema. Her work has been included in many tristate area solo and group exhibitions.

“Park Landscape” by William Hudders Hudders, of Easton, Pa., spent the summer of 2005 in Michigan and his new work is a record of that experience. This new subject matter marks a departure from the images of the Manhattan skyline, historic Philadelphia landmarks and his still life.

His work is in numerous private collections and has been displayed in group and solo exhibits.

The exhibit runs through Thursday, Nov. 3 at Beauregard Fine Art, located at 109 E. River Road.
