The Westside Community Group of Red Bank will hold its annual tree lighting at the Shrewsbury Avenue pocket park at the corner of Drs. James Parker Blvd. on Dec. 3 at 4 p.m.
The event will include caroling by Red Bank Primary School, Red Bank Charter School and Westside Christian Academy students, Santa’s arrival by fire truck, a tree lighting and refreshments for all, including candy canes, hot cocoa and holiday pastries. All are welcome.

The Red Bank Chapter of Deborah Hospital Foundation will hold its annual Holiday Luncheon and 50/50 Raffle on Sunday, Dec. 11 at 12:30 p.m. at the Deal Golf and Country Club, Rosland Avenue, Deal.

The Community YMCA of Red Bank will work with volunteers from the Home Depot in West Long Branch on Dec. 5 to help children create holiday gifts for their families and friends.
The event will take place at the Community YMCA’s Count Basie Branch at 138 Drs. James Parker Blvd., Red Bank, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The children will have a chance to show their appreciation for parents and friends by creating and wrapping presents.

New, unwrapped toys may be dropped off at Weichert Realtors Rumson Office, 30 Ridge Road, to be distributed by Jason’s Dreams for Kids for this holiday season.
The nonprofit helps children suffering from catastrophic illnesses. Other gift drop-off points include Salt Creek Grill, 4 Bingham Ave., Rumson; Olde Wharf Inne, 306 E. The Red Bank Schools Basketball Tournament will be held this year at the new Salvation Army facility on Newman Springs Road in Red Bank, and has been expanded to a two-day tournament on Dec. 2, from 6-8:30 p.m., and Dec. 3, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
The event has been renamed the “Red Kettle Classic,” with an actual Salvation Army Red Kettle Traveling Trophy to be engraved and passed from winning school to winning school every year. All are welcome to attend.

The Seniors of Little Silver will hold their annual Holiday Party on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at 1 p.m. at the clubhouse on Church Street. Food will be prepared by the members and there will be a $2 cover charge.

The Children’s Cultural Center will open the doors of Diney’s Place at 51 Monmouth St. in Red Bank on Sunday, Dec. 4, from noon to 4 p.m. for a Winter Wonderland Open House.

On Thursday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School in Rumson will hold its annual eighth-grade showcase to provide information for parents of eighth-graders who may not be familiar with RFH and its programs.
During the evening, parents will view a short film that highlights important aspects of the school. Parents will then move to the gymnasium, where booths will be set up with information about different programs the school offers. For more information, call (732) 842-1597.
Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School will hold a blood drive on Tuesday, Dec. 6, in conjunction with the Central Jersey Blood Center. Members of the Health Club are recruiting donors from among the senior and junior classes and the faculty. The drive will be held in the gymnasium from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Members of the Kathryn Barnett School of Dance Traveling Troupe, Red Bank, were the opening act for the 76ers/Lakers basketball game at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia recently. The dancers were chosen through a video audition to open the battle of the top basketball teams.

Any adult interested in singing Christmas Carols at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, on Dec. 12 or Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch on Dec. 14, both at 6 p.m. should contact Mike Ellis at (732) 870-1893. A good voice is not a prerequisite, only the desire to add a little enjoyment to the appreciative patients, their visitors and hospital staff.

The Sea Bright Recreation Department will host its second annual “Come Meet Your Neighbors Holiday Party” tomorrow night at Ichabod’s on Ocean Avenue from 7 to 10 p.m. Admission to the event, open to all Sea Bright residents, is $10 per person, which covers light food.
On Sunday, borough children can meet Santa Claus, pose for photographs, play games, and participate in arts and crafts at a holiday party designed for the younger set, also sponsored by the recreation department. The party runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the recreation center inside borough hall, 1107 Ocean Ave. Lunch will be served. Contact the recreation department at (732) 842-6099, ext. 27.
