Eatontown reappoints Menna as prosecutor
Red Bank councilman has served in municipal post since 1992
BY SUE M. MORGAN
Staff Writer

EATONTOWN — For the 14th consecutive year, veteran Red Bank Borough Councilman and noted area attorney Pasquale Menna has been appointed borough prosecutor.

With five of six council members present, Menna was unanimously and officially reappointed to the legal post during the Borough Council’s Feb. 10 meeting.

Borough Council President Theodore F. Lewis III was not in attendance.

Menna, who has a solo law practice in Red Bank, has been a Democratic councilman in that borough since 1989. He also serves as the fire commissioner in his hometown.

As Eatontown’s legal representative in municipal court, Menna will be paid a retainer fee of $32,853.60 along with $5,000 to cover professional services of the prosecutor’s contract, according to a published copy of the resolution that authorized his hiring.

Under New Jersey’s state statutes, Eatontown was able to contract Menna, its borough prosecutor since 1992, without advertising for other bids, the approved resolution states.

However, a copy of the prosecutor’s contract is required to be available for public inspection in the borough offices, according to the same resolution.

Menna’s contract is actually effective Jan. 1. However, that contract had to be reviewed and approved by the borough attorney’s office before the council could formally vote on the appointment.

Besides Eatontown, Menna also serves as borough prosecutor in the boroughs of Tinton Falls and Deal.

Additionally, Menna is the attorney for the planning boards in both Oceanport and Keyport.
