Obituaries Matthew “Matty” Joseph Slane Mr. Slane, 53, of Red Bank, died July 16 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He resided in Kearny prior to moving to Red Bank six years ago. He was a produce manager at Pathmark, Hazlet, where he was employed the past 10 years. He was an avid Mets fan. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Slane; and two brothers, Patrick Slane and Thomas Slane. He is survived by his mother, Anne Slane of Red Bank; a daughter, Colleen Slane of Jersey City; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary Anne and James Carey of Branchville, Margaret Canessa of Lake Onassa, and Annie and Robert Troy of Middletown; and several nephews. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
Mary Spinelli Mrs. Spinelli, 87, died July 22 at home. Born in Newark, she had resided in Holmdel and Union before moving to Colts Neck 11 years ago. She was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking. Mrs. Spinelli was predeceased by a brother, Peter, and a grandson, Shawn Venancio. Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Ernest; a son and daughter-in-law, Ernest M. and Nina Spinelli of Millington; a daughter and son-in-law, Lucille and Mario Venancio of Red Bank; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Carrie Cocuzza of Middletown; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft section of Middletown, followed by interment at St. Gertrude’s Cemetery, Colonia section of Woodbridge. John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements. Barbara Louise Sniffen Mrs. Sniffen, 76, of Oceanport, died July 22 at St. Barnabas Hospice at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, she resided in Middletown for 50 years prior to moving to Oceanport. She was a church organist most of her life at local churches such as Christ Episcopal, Middletown, The First Baptist Church, Long Branch and United Methodist Church, Asbury Park. She was a member of the American Guild of Organists. She raised collies for several years. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Sniffen in 1988; and a son, Albert Clark Sniffen Jr. in 2004. She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Patricia and Richard Nicastro of Union Beach, Elizabeth Sniffen of New York City, and Kathryn and Steven Miele of Oceanport, and Donna and Tony Miceli of Riverdale; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Pamela Sniffen of Oceanport, and Matthew and Carrie Sniffen of West Long Branch; a daughter-in-law, Mary Sniffen of Tinton Falls; and 12 grandchildren. Entombment was at Woodbine Cemetery, Long Branch. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
Joseph “Bosco” Fusco Jr. Mr. Fusco, 71, of Jackson, died July 8 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Florida before moving to Jackson 10 years ago. He was a longshoreman for the U.S. Coast Guard, International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) Local No. 1247, Jersey City. Surviving are two brothers, Lawrence Fusco of Georgia and Robert Sinclare of Florida; and a sister, Nancyann Minka of Tinton Falls. Services were held at Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge. Cremation was private.
