Obituaries Brendan O’Reilly Mr. O’Reilly, 20, of Fair Haven, died Sept. 5 in Phoenix, following a bicycle accident in Prescott, Ariz. He was a student at Wesleyan University, Middletown, Conn., where he was a member of the crew team, and received the CRC Award in 2004 for outstanding achievement in chemistry. He graduated with honors from Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, Rumson. He tutored while at Wesleyan, teaching local immigrants English. He also tutored for several years at Count Basie Learning Center, Red Bank, donating his paychecks back to the center. He was predeceased by his grandfather, Maurice O’Reilly; his grandmother, Mary O’Reilly; and an aunt, Pamela O’Reilly of Arlington, Va. He is survived by his parents, Gail and Brian O’Reilly of Fair Haven; a brother, Paul; a sister, Mary; his grandparents, Patricia and Richard Leyh of Spring Lake; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral service will be Sept. 16 at 10 a.m. at Tower Hill Presbyterian Church, Red Bank. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Hopewell. Arrangements are by John E. Gary Y. Kaplan Mr. Kaplan, 68, of Fair Haven, died Aug. 26 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in East Stroudsburg, Pa., he resided in Red Bank prior to moving to Fair Haven 33 years ago. He founded in 1969, the architectural firm of Kaplan Gaunt DeSantis, Red Bank. He was a member of Congregation B’nai Israel, Rumson. He was a fellow in the American Institute of Architects. He was also a member of the Boy Scout Council and an Eagle Scout. His honors include the 1995 Governor’s Volunteer of the Year Award, and being named the 1997 Architect of the Year by the New Jersey Society of Architects, of which he was president in 1975. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gloria; two daughters and sons-in-law, Michele and David Fine of Westfield, and Andrea and Michael Yanoff of Westwood, Mass.; a son and daughter-in-law, Ross and Susan Kaplan of Birmingham, Mich.; a sister, Joan Leon; and seven grandchildren. Interment was at Monmouth Fields, West Long Branch. Arrangements were by Worden-Hoidel Funeral Home, Red Bank.
