A Monmouth Women's Rec Basketball League will be held on Sunday nights, beginning Oct. 1 and running through March. Players must be 21 years old. All games played at the Salvation Army gym in Red Bank. Looking for teams and individual players.

For those men and women, 18 years and older who wish to become a certified basketball official for high school, middle school or recreational leagues the Central East Jersey Basketball officials organization is now accepting applications for their fall clinic. The class begins Sept. 21 and runs from 7-9 p.m. on most Tuesdays and Thursdays through Nov. 21, with classroom training at East Brunswick High School and on-court training at St. Peter's High School in New Brunswick.

The 14U Monmouth Maniacs Fastpitch softball team is looking for strong, serious, experienced players. The team has just added a former college player to their coaching staff. Manalapan's David DeJesus, a centerfielder for the Kansas City Royals, broke up the no-hit bid of the New York Yankees' Randy Johnson on Sept. 7 when he hit a lead-off triple in the bottom of the seventh inning. DeJesus is in his third season with the Royals and was batting .298 through last week. After starring at Manalapan, DeJesus went on to be an All-Big East outfielder for Rutgers University before being drafted by the Royals following his junior year.
Garden State Baseball League (GSBL), located in Woodbridge, is still accepting team registration for team 13U through men's college into the Fall Ball Program. The GSBL will kick off the fall season on Sunday. Teams will play Sunday doubleheaders until the end of October. A Central Jersey Hawks girls 17-year-old basketball team is looking to add girls to its current roster for the upcoming spring season. The team will be playing in major college showcases. The Matawan-Aberdeen Recreation Volleyball League in Monmouth County is forming its fall 2006 indoor season. League nights are Tuesday evenings from 6 to 10 p.m. The B1 league is for advanced players (B-BB or above) and the B2 league is for novice to intermediate-level players. Space is limited. The fall season began on Sept. 12.
