VNA flu, pneumonia clinics to begin Nov. 2

Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) of Central Jersey will hold flu and pneumonia clinics beginning Nov. 2 from 2-4 p.m. at Red Bank Foodtown, 362 Broad St.

Charge for flu immunizations is $30, and for pneumovax $40. Medicare Part B (not an HMO) is also accepted. Individuals younger than age 18 will not be inoculated at public sites staffed by VNA of Central Jersey nurses, but may be immunized at VNA's Red Bank health center at 141 Bodman Place by appointment only.

Other clinics will be: Nov. 4 from 10 a.m.-noon Reiter Pharmacy, 3317 Sunset Ave., Wanamassa section of Ocean Township; Nov. 4 from noon-2 p.m. at Family Pharmacy, 10 Church St., Little Silver; Nov. 5 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 255 Harding Road, Red Bank; Nov. 11 from 9 a.m.-noon at St. John's Episcopal Church, 325 Little Silver Point Road, Little Silver; Nov. 12 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Maple Avenue and Chestnut St., Red Bank; Nov. 28 from 10 a.m.-noon at Oakhurst/Ocean Foodtown, 1560 Route 35, Oakhurst section of Ocean Township; and Nov. 28 from 2-4 p.m. at Wanamassa Foodtown, 2201 Sunset Ave., Wanamassa.

Walk in hours at the health center are Saturdays Oct. 21-Feb. 24 from 9 a.m.-noon (excluding Nov. 25, and Dec. 23 and 30). Hours are by appointment only from Dec. 9-February. For appointments only, call (732) 933-3989. The flu hotline is (732) 224-6985.

R.S.V.P. by Oct. 28 for museum's appraisal party

Monmouth Museum on the campus of Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown, will hold a "Trash to Treasure Appraisal Party" Nov. 4 from 5-9 p.m.

Attendees may bring items to be verbally appraised by expert local appraisers (items must fit through the museum's door). The museum will also hold a "Chair-ish the Museum" auction and is asking local artists to donate custom-designed, decorated or remodeled chair to auction at the event. The event will also feature cocktails, light hors d'oeuvres, and collections of memorabilia on display. An e-bay specialist will also be available to give advice.

Tickets are $75, with proceeds benefiting the museum's educational programs. Reservations must be made before Oct. 28. For reservations, call the museum at (732) 747-2266.

AARP driver safety program Oct. 23, 30

HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hosp-ital of Tinton Falls, 2 Centre Plaza, will host an AARP driver safety program Oct. 23 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Upon completion of the course, students receive a certificate of completion entitling the student to a 5 percent discount on the major portion of automobile insurance for three years. To remain eligible, students must repeat the course every three years. If applicable, two points will be deducted from the student's motor vehicle record. Attendance at both sessions is required to receive full credit for the course.
