Notes Fair Haven Cub Scout Pack No. 127 is sponsoring a fundraiser to benefit the Walsh Family Foundation for Breast Cancer Research. The pack will host its third annual pancake breakfast April 2 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Fair Haven Firehouse. The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children. The guest speaker will be Norman Rothwell, retired professor of biology from Long Island University, whose specialty is cell biology and genetics. He created the exhibition at the American Museum of Natural History in New York on Charles Darwin, the originator of the theory of evolution through natural selection. ***** The Greater Red Bank Area Kiwanis Club will hold its weekly breakfast gatherings on Tuesdays. The Board of Trustees of the 14th Annual Rumson Run has voted to change the name of the run to the Rumson-Fair Haven Run in keeping with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the merger of the two towns at the high school level, according to the resolution. ***** The Oceanport United Methodist Church on Main Street will host a spaghetti dinner on Saturday from 5-7 p.m. The cost of the dinner is $7 for adults, $6 if paid in advance and $3 for children ages 2 through 11. The snow date is Feb. 11. ***** The teachers of Wolf Hill School in Oceanport are scheduled to host the school’s seventh annual Reading Rocks celebration this evening. Teachers will volunteer their time to read their favorite books to the students and parents of the school. The event is sponsored by the Teachers of Pride Committee of the Oceanport Education Association. ***** The Education Foundation of Little Silver will be hosting its 10th Anniversary Dinner Dance at McCloone’s Pier House in Long Branch on Friday, Feb. 10, from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. There will be refreshments and silent, chance and live auction items and a raffle to win a 32-inch LCD flat-screen TV.
