Obituaries William Thomas King Mr. King, 78, of Red Bank, died Feb. 3 following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in New York City, he had been a resident of the Bayshore area for 30 years. Before his retirement, Mr. King was employed for 42 years by Tile Layers Helpers Union Local No. 88 and served on its executive board for several years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. King was a member and trustee of the Middletown Elks Club No. 2179 and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was predeceased by his wife of 39 years, Mary, in 1989; and a granddaughter, Marirose Rieman, in 1990. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Susan of Atlanta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and William Kelly of Middletown, and Lori and Ed Rieman of Rumson; and seven grandchildren. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements.
Henry Slayback Miltenberger Mr. Miltenberger, 79, of Little Silver, died Jan. 19 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in New York City, he resided in Middletown before moving to Little Silver in 1951. Mr. Miltenberger was a building contractor and owner of Little Silver Construction Co., retiring in 1998. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Little Silver, and a member of the American Littoral Society, Sandy Hook. He was predeceased by a brother, Eugene Miltenberger. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Miltenberger; two daughters and one son-in-law, Catherine and Peter Tamblyn of Little Silver, and Virginia Miltenberger of Little Silver; a sister, Lee Lloyd of Westerly, R.I.; a sister-in-law, Barbara Miltenberger of Fair Haven; a grandson; a sister-in-law; and a brother-in-law. Seymour “Red” Gitlin Mr. Gitlin, 83, of Shadow Lake Village, Middletown, died Feb. 5 at Avante at Red Bank. Born in New Rochelle, N.Y., he resided in Fair Haven and Hillsdale before moving to Shadow Lake Village 20 years ago. Before his retirement, Mr. Gitlin was a comptroller for 25 years at Sales and Marketing Executives International, New York City. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Mr. Gitlin is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jean H. Lenehan Gitlin; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert D. and Susan Gitlin of Dallas, Pa.; a daughter, Susan L. Gitlin of New York City; a brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Joyce Gitlin of South Carolina; and a grandson. Arrangements were by the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Sam P. Siciliano Mr. Siciliano, 89, of Shrewsbury, died Jan. 31 at home. Born in Neptune, he was a lifelong resident of the Monmouth County area. Before his retirement, Mr. Siciliano was a columnist for the Daily Racing Form and New Jersey Thoroughbred magazine. He compiled and edited “A Century of the Triple Crown” in 1999 and several books on the Preakness Stakes from 1973-84. Prior to that, he was publicist of the Preakness Stakes, held at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. Mr. Siciliano began his career as a sports writer and editor at the Asbury Park Evening Press in 1939 and held reporting and editorial positions with several newspapers. He was the recipient of the Blood-Horse Magazine Award. He served with the U.S. Navy as a chief petty officer and was a war correspondent during World War II, covering the invasion of Okinawa in the Pacific theater. He was a former president of the New Jersey Sports Writers Association. He was a Republican Party County Committeeman in Shrewsbury and a past chairman of the Shrewsbury Shade Tree Commission. Mr. Siciliano is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shrewsbury Mayor Emilia M. Siciliano; two daughters, Carol Ann Siciliano of Falls Church, Va., and Dianne Crilly of Shrewsbury; two brothers, Dr. Eugene J. Siciliano of West Deal and Dr. Joseph F. Siciliano of Interlaken; four sisters, Angela V. Siciliano of Woodside, N.Y., Ann P. Siciliano of Wilmette, Ill., and Frances Foster and Mary Juliano, both of Ocean Township; and five grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. The Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements. Michael P. Lisowsky Mr. Lisowsky, 90, of Shrewsbury, died Feb. 9 in Red Bank. He had been a resident of Shrewsbury for the past 42 years. He was employed at United Supply Co., Shrewsbury, for 35 years. Mr. Lisowsky served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a 56-year communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was the former fire chief at Northside Fire Company No. 4, Tinton Falls; member of the American Legion; and a former member of the board for the Boy Scouts at St. James School, Red Bank. He also worked on the Shrewsbury Election Board. Mr. Lisowsky is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances Redmond Lisowsky; six sons, Michael P. Lisowsky III of Santee, Calif., Frank J. Lisowsky of Shrewsbury, Robert Lisowsky of Brick, James M. Lisowsky of Texas, William Lisowsky of Cadiz, Ky., and Richard Lisowsky of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Marjorie O’Brien of Austin and Mary Anne Hirsch of Lititz, Pa.; two brothers, Thomas Lisowsky of Florida and Herbert Lisowsky of Denver; 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
