Navy Seaman Apprentice Devin S. Davis recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. During the eight-week program, he completed a variety of training. A 1999 graduate of Tallwood High School, Virginia Beach, Va., he is the son of Patricia and Laurence E. McPherson, Tinton Falls.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Andrew J. Kohlbecker recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Airmen completing the six-week basic training also earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. A 2000 graduate of Neptune High School, Kohlbecker received a bachelor’s degree in 2004 from Rutgers University, Newark. He is the son of Anne Kohlbecker, Little Silver.

Navy Seaman Recruit Mark A. Valdez recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Valdez completed a variety of training such as classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, fire fighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness. A 2005 graduate of Middletown South High School, he is the son of Katherine M. and Carlos Valdez of Red Bank.
