Peter M. Bry clinical training April 28

CPC Behavioral Healthcare, Middletown, will sponsor the Peter M. Bry clinical training April 28 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at PNC Bank Arts Center, Holmdel.

The workshop is designed for mental health and addiction counselors, psychologists, family therapists, teachers, school counselors, social workers and probation officers. Featured speaker will be Matthew Selekman, a licensed clinical social worker, and founder and co-director of Partners for Collaborative Solutions. He will present "The Difficult Adolescent: A Collaborative Strengths-Based Therapy Approach." Attendees will learn an approach that capitalizes on the strengths and resources of the adolescents to co-construct solutions.

The training will be eligible for New Jersey continuing education units for social workers and psychologists, as well as professional development hours for teachers from the state Department of Education for teachers.

Fee is $95, which includes the presentation, continental breakfast, luncheon and parking.

Training to begin May 30 for DVRT volunteers

180-Turning Lives Around Inc., Hazlet, will hold a 40-hour certification training course evenings May 30-June 28 for Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT) volunteers.

Volunteers work in conjunction with police at headquarters to provide support, information, and referrals to victims of domestic violence. Applicants must be 18 or older, have transportation and a valid driver's license, be willing to serve on an on-call shift basis, and submit to background investigations and fingerprinting.

For an application, call the police departments in the following local municipalities: Eatontown, Fair Haven, Hazlet, Holmdel, Little Silver, Long Branch, Oceanport, Red Bank, Rumson, Sea Bright, Shrewsbury, Tinton Falls, and West Long Branch.

Italian American Assoc. general meeting April 27

The Italian American Association of Monmouth County will hold a general meeting April 27 at 7:30 p.m. at the Freehold Knights of Columbus hall, 70 E. Main St.

Guest speakers from the Manalapan Coalition will be in attendance, and there will also be traditional Italian dances and music by Mariuccia Romano from Tarantella d'Italia Company. The cost is $25 and includes buffet dinner.

Volunteers sought

for Hazlet nonprofit

180 Turning Lives Around Inc., Hazlet, is seeking front desk volunteers one half-day a week for its main office. Duties include answering phones, greeting clients and general clerical duties. Training is provided, and a six-month to one year commitment is requested.

180 is a nonprofit dedicated to ending domestic violence, family violence, abuse, and sexual assault in the community. For more information, call Jacki at (732) 264-4111, ext. 103.

Seminar on TACT study slated for April 23

Monmouth Beach Cultural Center, 128 Ocean Ave., will host a free seminar and open house about the National Institutes of Health (NIH) "Trial to Access Chelation Therapy" (TACT) for heart attack survivors April 23 at 2 p.m.

The NIH study is open to all who have had a heart attack and are age 50 or older. Requirements for participation will be discussed at the event.

MS Walk set for

April 23 in Belmar

The Mid-Jersey Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society will hold its 18th annual "MS Walk" April 23 in Belmar. Registration will be held at 9 a.m., and the walk will begin at 10 a.m. There will be various foods and entertainment following the fundraising walk. Proceeds will benefit MS research and programs, and services for families living with MS.

Registration under way for Jeanne Alter 5K

Registration is now under way for the third annual Jeanne Alter Memorial 5K, scheduled for Mother's Day, May 14, at 9 a.m. at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown.

Alter was a longtime Rumson resident who died from parkinsonism three years ago. Proceeds will benefit The Parkinson's Disease Research Society, and an additional 5 percent will go to an endowment for a $500 scholarship for a Brookdale student. There will be prizes and raffles following the race.

Sponsorships and volunteers are also needed for the event.

Raffle to benefit Jason's Dreams for Kids

Jason's Dreams for Kids, Red Bank, is sponsoring a Super 50/50 raffle to raise funds for its programs, which help children suffering from catastrophic illness and their families. If all 300 tickets are sold, the top prize for the raffle will be $15,000. Second and third prizes will be 10 percent and 5 percent of the money raised.

The drawing will be held Aug. 5 at Tinton Falls Community Day, to be held on the grounds of the Ranney School.
