Boro man victim of drive-by shooting RED BANK - A 22-year-old borough resident was treated for a gunshot wound to the leg after a drive-by shooting last Friday on Montgomery Terrace. According to the police report, the incident took place on April 14 at around 1:32 p.m. According to the report, the victim said that he was standing in front of a residence on Montgomery Terrace when an unknown vehicle drove past and fired at him multiple times, striking him once in the leg. The victim was transported to Riverview Medical Center for treatment. The vehicle, which could not be described by the victim, was last seen heading north on Tilton Avenue. There is no description of the shooter or shooters at this time, according to the report. Lt. Stephen McCarthy said Monday that there is nothing in the investigation thus far to indicate that the shooting was gang-related. "This type of thing happens very rarely," said McCarthy. "The last shooting we had was in January of this year, but before that there was a five-year span of time with no shootings." The last shooting involved an attempted carjacking at an apartment building on Spring Street during which a 22-year-old resident of the apartment building was pulling into his parking lot, when he was approached by two men wearing black ski masks. The men ordered the victim out of the vehicle, but the victim refused. The victim then heard a gun shot and fled in his car. He reportedly heard more gun shots as he drove away. There were no injuries involved in that case, and no arrests have yet been made. Anyone with information concerning the recent incident is asked to contact Detective Division of the Red Bank Police Department at (732) 530-2719, or, if they wish to remain anonymous, call the Red Bank Police Tips Line at (732) 450-9704.
