Register for Citizen Police Academy by Aug. 18

Monmouth County Sheriff Joseph W. Oxley announced that applications are being accepted for enrollment in the 12th Annual Citizen Police Academy, which will be held Sept. 6-Nov. 8 at the Monmouth County Police Academy, Freehold Township. The deadline for applying is Aug. 18.

The free course is open to county residents age 21 and older, with no criminal record, and consists of 10 sessions, 7-9:30 p.m. Wednesdays. The academy is a 25-hour block of instruction designed to give attendees an overview of law enforcement services in Monmouth County and features presentations by municipal, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Residents must attend all 10 sessions for successful completion of the program. Enrollment is limited.
