Communities to remember victims of Sept. 11, 2001

Little Silver

There will be a brief memorial ceremony outside the Little Silver Municipal Building on Sunday, Sept. 10, at 6 p.m. to honor those who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on New York City and Washington, D.C.

Red Bank

On Sept. 11 at 7 p.m., the Red Bank Elks will host its annual 9/11 service in Riverside Gardens Park, adjacent to the Elks Lodge at 40 West Front St. in Red Bank. In case of rain, the service will be held in the lodge.

Also in Red Bank, on Monday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m., Trinity Episcopal Church, 65 W. Front Street, Red Bank will offer a Memorial Mass for the lives lost at the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

Tinton Falls

The borough of Tinton Falls will hold a Fifth Anniversary 9/11 Memorial Service on Monday, Sept. 11, at the WTC Memorial at the Tinton Falls Firehouse, located at the intersection of Tinton Avenue (Route 537) and Sycamore Avenue. The event starts at 10 a.m. and will run about an hour.

Invited guests include state and local officials, area clergy, borough police, fire, and EMS staff members and others.

Music will be provided by trumpeter Jason Molisani and members of the Monmouth County Police Pipe and Drum Corps.

The Tinton Falls WTC Memorial has been on display since Dec. 14, 2001. It is a 1/100th scale model of the towers and surrounding buildings. It was hand-built by Jared Stevens and includes 43,000 hand-drilled, back-lit windows.
