Obituaries Andrew DePonti Sr. Mr. DePonti, 90, of Red Bank, died Aug. 25 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was a supervisor at the Red Bank Water Department and Public Works, retiring in 1978. Mr. DePonti served with the U.S. National Guard. He was a former chief of the Red Bank Fire Department, captain of the Westside Hose Company, captain of the First Aid Squad, and a member of the First Aid Squad's scuba team, all of Red Bank. His memberships included the Firemen's Relief Association and the Fire Prevention Board. He was named First Aid Person of the Year by the United Way and was honored by the American Red Cross. Mr. DePonti was predeceased by his wife, Mary, in 2003. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Adrienne DePonti Jr. of Red Bank; a daughter and son-in-law, Irene and Richard Walter of Fair Haven; one grandson; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. The Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Westside Hose Company or Red Bank First Aid Squad, both Red Bank 07701; or the American Heart Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902.
Clarence Blanton Sr. Mr. Blanton, 76, of Fair Haven, died Aug. 28. He is survived by a brother, George Blanton of New York; a sister, Rose Blanton of Virginia; three children, Laurine Blanton and Kathleen Brown, both of California, and Clarence Blanton Jr. of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A funeral service was held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, Fair Haven. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.
Helen J. Breisch Mrs. Breisch, 82, of Keyport, died Aug. 30 at home. Born in Irvington, she resided in Hillside before moving to Keyport 53 years ago. She was a secretary for the Keyport Board of Education for 10 years, retiring in 1983. Mrs. Breisch was a member of the Rosary Altar Society at St. Clement's Roman Catholic Church, Matawan, and the Keyport Woman's Club. She was predeceased by two sisters, Frances Wojtowicz and Victoria Danielczyk. Surviving are her husband, Thomas Breisch; a daughter, Johanna Caddock of Little Silver; two brothers, Edward Wojtowicz of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Joseph Wojtowicz of Parlin; and a sister, Stella Nieciecki of Phoenix. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Clement's Church. Entombment was at Monmouth Memorial Park, Neptune. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements.
Frances Lisowsky Mrs. Lisowsky, 91, of Shrewsbury, died Aug. 16 at home. She was born in Flushing, N.Y. She was a longtime member of the Rosary Altar Society at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Mrs. Lisowsky was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Michael P. Lisowsky, in February; and a son, Robert, in April. She is survived by five sons, Michael P. Lisowsky III of Santee, Calif., Frank J. Lisowsky of Shrewsbury, James M. Lisowsky of Texas, William Lisowsky of Cadiz, Ky., and Richard Lisowsky of Chapel Hill, N.C.; two daughters, Marjorie O'Brien of Austin, Texas, and Mary Anne Hirsch of Lititz, Pa.; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. James Church. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 3704, Memphis, TN 38173-0704. Gloria Riccardi Filippone Mrs. Filippone, of Oceanport, died Sept. 4 at home. Born in Newark, she was a lifelong resident of the Shore area. She was employed in the administrative department at Monmouth University from 1983 until her retirement in 1996, and was also an assistant physical education professor at Monmouth College from 1965 to 1973. Afterward, Mrs. Filippone was the first director of the Monmouth County Office on Aging, establishing and directing the Special Citizens Area Transportation (SCAT) program. She was a parishioner of the Church of the Precious Blood, Monmouth Beach. She served two terms as Oceanport Borough Council president and was an honorary member of the Oceanport First Aid Squad. She received the County Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties in 1979. Mrs. Filippone was predeceased by her husband, Frederick James Filippone, in 1965. She is survived by two sons, Frederick James Filippone Jr. and Gary Filippone, both of Oceanport; two daughters and a son-in-law, Amery and Karl Meibauer, and Gay Steinbrick, all of Oceanport; a brother, Rudolph Riccardi; and seven grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Sept. 8 at 9 a.m. at Damiano Funeral Home, Long Branch. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. at the Church of The Precious Blood. Interment will take place at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to the Oceanport First Aid Squad, P.O. Box 76, Oceanport 07757.
Joseph J. "Zeppy" Feiter Mr. Feiter, 91, died Aug. 16 at the Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel. Mr. Feiter was a longtime resident of the Passaic, Clifton, areas before moving to The Sycamore in Shrewsbury. He was a foreman for the Clifton Recreation Department, retiring in 1979 after many years of service. He was a parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle Parish, Clifton. Mr. Feiter was pre by his wife, Josephine Dabal Feiter. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Barbara of Long Branch, and John and Marie of Oceanport; a daughter, Diane Dowds of Highlands; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A Mass was celebrated at St. Philip the Apostle Church, followed by interment at St. Michael's Cemetery, South Hackensack. Memorial donations can be made in Joseph's memory to a charity of your choice.
