Notes On Wednesday, Oct. 11, from 7-9:30 p.m., the Westside Community Group will hold its 10th annual Candidates Night at River Street Commons at 49 Catherine St. in Red Bank. The event will take place in the first-floor community room and will feature all four candidates for the two available Red Bank Borough Council seats, as well as the two candidates for mayor. Participants walk 5 miles to help raise funds for hungry people in Monmouth County and around the world. To find out where to pick up a sponsor sheet or other information, please call (732) 530-7674 and come to Red Bank Regional High School at 1 p.m. the day of the walk to register. The walk will start at 1:30 p.m. Items such as rice, beans and peanut butter can also be brought to RBR the day of the walk for distribution to any of Crop Walk's 14 local partners. ***** The Monmouth County Park System will hold its annual Thompson Park Day Oct. 15 from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the park at 805 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown. The event will feature activities such as an "amazing maize maze," climbing wall, wagon rides and pumpkin painting. There will also be golf evaluations, various foods, a children's costume parade, scarecrow contest, and arts and crafts. Children's races feature a diaper derby, tot trot, pee wee run, and sack races. Friends of the Parks will hold a "Strut Your Mutt" doggie costume contest. Entertainment will be provided by the Navesink Brass, and Project Packman, and there will also be a magic show, stiltwalker, puppet lady, and Macaroni Anne Cheeze. Admission and parking are free.
