Community Bulletin Board Audition applications for the Monmouth County Arts High School and Arts Middle School programs are available for students in grades of 6-12. Auditions will be held Dec. 9. The program offers accelerated courses taught by a faculty of experienced teachers and artists for gifted and talented students in grades six through 12. Classes offered include instrumental music, dance, theater arts, photography, creative writing, vocal music and visual arts. Students accepted will be allowed to leave school in order to attend the program classes one afternoon each week during regular class hours. Classes will be held at a central location in Monmouth County and participating school districts will provide transportation and cost of the program. The Arts Middle School program runs for 12 weeks, while the Arts High School program runs 14 weeks. Registration deadline is Nov. 17. The New Jersey Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Foundation will host the eighth annual forum, "Coming Home: Vietnam Veterans and Their Families Since the War," Oct. 20 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Vietnam Era Educational Center, 1 Memorial Lane, Holmdel. The program will examine the challenges and successes in the lives of Vietnam veterans and families since the war through a series of panel discussion workshops. There will also be a luncheon featuring keynote speaker, attorney Jan C. Scruggs, a decorated, combat-wounded Vietnam veteran, and founder and president of the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Fund. The Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey, Red Bank, has announced the price for flu immunizations has been changed from $30 to $25. Flu shots for walkins only are available at VNACJ's Red Bank health center at 141 Bodman Place, Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon beginning Oct. 21, and ending Feb. 24 (excluding Nov. 25, and Dec. 23 and 30). Deadline for boating safety applications Nov. 1 The BoatU.S. Foundation for Boating Safety and Clean Water, Alexandria, Va., is accepting applications for Boating Safety Grants through Nov. 1. Grants of up to $4,000 are available for boating safety projects, with a total of $50,000 available for the campaign. Monmouth Museum on the campus of Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown, will hold a "Trash to Treasure Appraisal Party" Nov. 4 from 5-9 p.m. Attendees may bring items to be verbally appraised by expert local appraisers (items must fit through the museum's door). The museum will also hold a "Chair-ish the Museum" auction and is asking local artists to donate custom-designed, decorated or remodeled chair to auction at the event. The event will also feature cocktails, light hors d'oeuvres, and collections of memorabilia on display. An e-bay specialist will also be available to give advice. Concerned Persons for Adoption will sponsoring the 25th annual "Let's Talk Adoption" conference Nov. from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at Rutgers University, Busch Campus Center, Piscataway. The conference will features workshops for pre- and post-adoptive parents, social workers, teachers and adoptees. Keynote speaker will be Debbie Riley, author of "Beneath the Mask: Understanding Adopted Teens." Exhibitors will include New Jersey licensed adoption agencies, and vendors offering books on adoption topics. New Jersey and Pennsylvania licensed social workers and New Jersey teachers may also receive continuing education hours credit for attending. Cost is $35 per person, and $60 per couple before Oct. 20, and $40 and $70, respectively after Oct. 20. Fee for full-time students is $20.
