Reservations now taken for Hallow-Marine The New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium (NJMSC), Sandy Hook, is now accepting reservations for "Hallow-Marine," Oct. 28 from 5-8 p.m. at Fort Hancock. Tours are approximately 45 minutes each. The event is one of the NJMSC's Family Investigate Science Hands-On (F.I.S.H.) programs, and will feature guided tours of Sandy Hook, filled with Halloween surprises and scary thrills. Participants will meet the "lost pirates" of Sandy Hook, discover interesting and frightening facts about shore animals, and explore the marsh at twilight. Cost is $10 per person, and children must be accompanied by an adult. Preregistration is required. The Club at Kensington Court Assisted Living, Tinton Falls, has begun its second Alzheimer's disease and dementia caregiver support group with the first meeting Nov. 20 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. The group meets the second Wednesday of each month, and is facilitated by social workers trained by the Greater New Jersey Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Brookdale Community College, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown, is accepting registration for "The Certified Bookkeeper" course scheduled from Jan. 3-June 27. Classes will be Wednesdays from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The professional certification program is established by the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers to prepare individuals for the national certified bookkeeper examination. It is appropriate for registrants with a minimum of some on-the-job bookkeeping experience or academic background in double-entry bookkeeping. Silvia Gazzo, CPA, will be the course instructor. Fairy Tales Can Come True to open Nov. 19
Monmouth Museum on the campus of Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown, will present its holiday exhibition, "Fairy Tales Can Come True" beginning Nov. 19. The exhibition is created by members of the garden clubs of Fair Haven, Little Silver, Navesink section of Middletown, Bayberry Garden Club, Brielle, and Holly Club of Sea Girt. Also taking part are the Little Sprouts of Mahala F. Atchison School, Tinton Falls, and Friends of the Monmouth Museum. The exhibition will feature fairy tales such as Cinderella, Peter Pan, and the Three Little Pigs. Also featured will be the museum's annual display of model trains. The opening will feature various activities, music and refreshments. Admission is $6 for individuals age 2 and older, and free for members. Harvest fest slated at area church Oct. 28 First Baptist Church of Red Bank, 84 Maple Ave., will hold its annual "Harvest Fest" Oct. 28 at 5:30 p.m., followed by square dancing from 7-9 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring a covered dish to share. The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Neptune, will hold the fundraiser, "Home for the Holidays" Oct. 26 from 5-9 p.m. at the Atlantic Club, 1904 Atlantic Ave., Wall. The event will offer tastings from 15 caterers, and floral and home décor items from various designers. Tickets are $50, and $40 for Club members. Participants will donate 20 percent of all sales to the FoodBank. Local participants are Dearborn Market, Holmdel; Mumford's Culinary Center, Tinton Falls; Racioppi's Kitchen, Red Bank; Byford & Mills, Little Silver; Kidegories, Shrewsbury; Artisans Annex, Red Bank; and Shutters, Fair Haven.
