'First Look' winter photography show
"Autumn Bridge" by Jean Finnila
'First Look: A January Photography Show" will open at The Frederick Gallery in Allenhurst Jan. 5.
An opening reception will be held Saturday, Jan. 13, 6 to 8 p.m.
Organized by Highlands photographer and instructor Laury Egan, the extensive exhibit features 100 framed and matted photographs by ten of her current students: Pasquale Cirullo, Red Bank, Valerie Craig, Middletown, Bob Dowd, Colts Neck, James Ferris, Port Monmouth, Jean Finnila and Tony Giunta, Freehold, Robert Grunke, Matawan, El McCarthy, Allenhurst, Paul Staniforth, Holmdel, and Warner White, Fair Haven.
In addition to large color and black-and-white prints, the exhibit will include photo collages and uniquely proportioned compositions.
Most of the photographers have shown at other galleries and venues; some of are making debuts in this show.
Egan has chosen the images for their creativity, diversity and technical excellence and also to honor each photographer's style. First Look also reflects the gallery's enthusiastic support of photography. In addition to their exhibits of innovative painting, prints, and sculpture, the gallery has made it a special goal to offer an ongoing space to photographers who are usually under-represented in today's art market.
