      Broadway in the 'burbs' at RBR
            Why go to New York City when you can see Red Bank Regional High School dance majors perform renditions of many of your favorite numbers from Broadway musicals? The performance by students of the school's Visual and Performing Arts program will feature showstoppers dating from the 1940s to the present. The show will take place Jan. 20 at 7 p.m. and Jan. 21 at 2 p.m.

      Documentary on impact of NCLB
            A documentary by New York University filmmaker Lerone Wilson on the No Child Left Behind Act explores the legislation that is having an impact on teachers and students across the country and changing the landscape of public education. Wilson was introduced to the NCLB controversy while serving as a tutor at New York City's P.S. 217.

      2007 conservation scholarships available
            The Freehold Soil Conservation District will award three $1,500 scholarships to college students majoring in a conservation-related, field. The Neal Munch and Mac Clark Scholarships have been awarded for 28 consecutive years honoring their contributions and service to the field of conservation.

      How to teach test-taking skills
            Faculty at Red Bank Regional High School recently attended a training session by a testing expert from Kaplan, K-12 Learning Services. Kaplan representative John DeValue presented an overview of the Kaplan strategies to 11th-grade English, math, special education and ELL (English Language Learners) teachers.

      Students make a difference
            The Student Council at Holy Cross School in Rumson sponsored a dress-down day to raise money to purchase blankets for people in need. The council raised $350 and the officers were able to purchase 117 blankets to donate to Holiday Express.

      RBR's 2nd annual Girls' Night Out
            Red Bank Regional High School's second annual "Girls Night Out" event is back. Billed as an evening of "Celebrating the Feminine Mystique," the event will take place Jan. 19, from 6 to 10 p.m., at the Little Silver school. Talk show personality Candace Kelley, host of "Another View" on NJ Network, will deliver the keynote address.
