Veterans to dedicate new military monument

Red Bank veterans will be dedicating a new military service monument in 2007 to be located at Red Bank Regional High School, Little Silver.

Veterans wishing to have their name included must have been born in, lived in, worked in or attended any public or private school in Red Bank. The veteran must also have served honorably in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, Air National Guard, National Guard or Merchant Marine any time from 1941-2006.

There will be a one-time $100 inscription fee to cover cost of the stone, the foundation, the inscription and a bronze eagle mounted on the granite stone. The stone will hold 600 names and cover the time periods for World War II, Berlin, Korea, Cuba, Cambodia, Grenada, Laos, Panama, Somalia, Vietnam, Kuwait, Bosnia, Kosovo, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Names and checks received after the first 150 names are submitted will be applied toward a later engraving on site. Any excess funds will be applied toward Red Bank Regional and Red Bank Catholic Veterans Scholarships.

Benefit for COA at Sea Bright spa Jan. 27

Brahma Yoga Spa, Sea Bright, holds its second annual benefit for Clean Ocean Action (COA) on Yoga Day Jan. 27.

Yoga Day is celebrated nationally and worldwide to raise awareness about yoga's benefits by offering free or low-cost workshops. Brahma will offer one-hour classes for all levels at 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2 p.m. that are by donation, (suggested minimum donation is $15). There will also be a reception from 7-10 p.m. featuring food, entertainment, chance auction, door prizes and a presentation by Clean Ocean Action for $25 per ticket.

Brookdale names center after Narozanick

The Brookdale Community College board of trustees has announced the naming of the college's Center for World War II Studies and Conflict Resolution for distinguished World War II veteran and Monmouth County Freeholder Emeritus Theodore "Ted" Narozanick.

Narozanick is a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge, and has participated in every significant event hosted by the center. He has served Monmouth County for over 48 years, including seven consecutive three-year terms on the Board of Chosen Freeholders. The official dedication and naming for Mr. Narozanick will take place in March. The center is being relocated to the college's Bankier Library. The new location will ensure proper visibility and access for all members of the community.

Help with financial aid forms at LBHS Jan. 28

Brookdale Community College will host the second annual "New Jersey College Goal Sunday" Jan. 28, 1-4 p.m., at Long Branch High School, 391 Westwood Ave. The day is dedicated to providing low-income students/first generation high school senior students with assistance in filing financial aid forms. Financial aid officers will be on hand. A $500 scholarship to the student's choice of college will be awarded at day's end to a participant.

The Monmouth County Park System has announced its spring directory will be released Feb. 1, and is available at most county parks and online at www.monmouthcountyparks.com.
