Letter to mayor on historic sites

I have been reading with interest the articles about the (Shrewsbury) Historic Preservation Commission. In the Jan. 25 issue of The Hub it quotes you as saying that there are 18 historic sites and structures located in the district but, except for two, the Allen House and the Wardell House, they are not listed individually on the New Jersey and national registers of historic places inventory.

I wanted you to know that Christ Church is listed individually on both the New Jersey and National Registers of Historic Places.

Plaques designating this are located on the church building next to the front door.

As someone who has been very involved in the restorations of both the Christ Church building and the Rectory on Sycamore Avenue since 1988, I want you to know that I believe the establishment of this commission is a good idea once the Planning Board and council have reviewed it and made changes they feel are necessary.
