      Kortney's Playground to be dedicated Feb. 25
            OCEANPORT - A dedication ceremony for Kortney's Playground at Wolf Hill Elementary School will be held Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. The playground is named for Kortney Rose Gillette, a 9-year-old former student at the Wolf Hill school. On April 27, 2006, four months after a diagnosis of brainstem glioma, Kortney lost her battle with the pediatric brain tumor.

      St. James students score in WordMasters Challenge
            RED BANK - - Four students representing Saint James School recently won highest honors in this year's WordMasters Challenge, a national language arts competition entered by more than 225,000 students annually, which consists of three separate meets held at intervals during the school year.

            TINTON FALLS - - Lori Gregg's and Debbie Pleasic's second-grade class at Mahala F. Atchison School has been involved with a unique pen pal program called Trucker Buddy International. The program matches professional truck drivers with classrooms around the world.
