      Students dive in to ocean advocacy
      High school students unite to protect the environment
            EATONTOWN - - High school students from throughout the county launched a spin-off of the ocean advocacy group Clean Ocean Action March 23 Student Ocean Advocates (SOA) from six Monmouth County high schools announced events at their schools to promote ocean advocacy and inspire others to make a difference in the environment.

            RED BANK - Students at St. James School continued an eight-year streak by taking top honors in a poster and essay competition. The Monmouth /Ocean County Dental Society recently sponsored its annual poster and essay contest with the theme "Be Part of the Grin Crowd!

      High school girls urged to enter political arena
            TINTON FALLS - - Although women make up 51 percent of the population of this country and have had the right to vote for the past 86 years, they still hold only a small percentage of elected positions. One very hopeful sign is that for the first time in the history of Monmouth County, women are in the majority on the five-seat Board of Freeholders.

      Program aimed at promoting breast cancer awareness
            RED BANK - Visitors to the borough will be seeing "pink" this spring as local businesses take up the cause of promoting breast cancer awareness. "Paint the Town Pink" will transform Red Bank as stores and restaurants "go pink" from April 29 to May 5.
