            Johnny Johnson used the first 20 games of Brookdale Community College's baseball season like a laboratory experiment. After a trip to Florida and the first games of the Garden State Athletic Conference schedule, the veteran head coach wanted to see what developed on the diamond.

            Beyond the typically outstanding pitching of sophomore Brittany O'Donnell, the Red Bank Catholic girls softball team didn't look too good against rival St. John Vianney on Monday. But even after watching her team get two-hit by Diana Sansevera in a 3-0 loss, RBC head coach Tracey Yarosz-Lombardi is not ready to panic.

            Coming off an 8-11 season, and with just four returning starters, the Red Bank Regional High School baseball team is a bit of an unknown. At least in the eyes of seventh-year head coach Steve DePolo. "We did pretty well in the preseason," the coach said. "Not that it matters really, but we won four out of five games.

            Fish On Plenty of fish for fresh and saltwater anglers The freshwater 2007 trout season officially begins in all waters open to public angling on Saturday at 8 a.m. Each spring approximately 570,000 trout are stocked in the state's public waters during the season. Standard production trout average 10.5 inches but range up to 12 inches.
