The Shore Institute of the Contemporary Arts in Long Branch will officially unveil an urban sculpture park and orchestrate a host of related sculpture events Saturday throughout the City of Long Branch. At the center of the arts events will be "Sculptoure," an urban sculpture park comprising over 25 major artworks scattered throughout downtown Long Branch and the oceanfront area. More ... Phoenix Productions in Red Bank will hold auditions for "Disney's High School Musical" at Phoenix Studio Theatre, 111 Monmouth St., Red Bank, next door to the Count Basie Theatre. Auditions are Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Monday, May 7, and Thursday, May 10, 6-9 p.m. All roles are open. Jocks, cheerleaders, geeks and skaters are needed. More ... Laurel Tracey gallery is supporting a breast cancer awareness initiative "Paint the Town Pink" with a special exhibit. The townwide event, for which Red Bank has been renamed 'Pink Bank," is intended to raise public awareness of the disease and reinforce the importance of annual mammograms. The exhibit features paintings by artists Duane Keiser, James Gahagan, Jon Peters and Doug Ohlson, who show their support in a creative way. The opening reception will be held Saturday 6:30-9 p.m. at White Street the gallery. The exhibit will run through May 12. The Monmouth Conservatory of Music (MCM), 50 White St., Red Bank, is offering the Summer Music Discovery Camp program again this summer. New this summer is a Music Discovery Camp for ages 4-6, that meets in one-week sessions beginning June 25, July 9 and July 16. More ... War is the subject of oil paintings by landscape artist Steve Alpert. In fact, it is the war in Iraq, as seen by American soldiers, that is the focus of an art exhibition at the Beacon Fine Arts gallery in Red Bank.
