      Hawks gearing up for run at NEC title
      Hawks are 1 and 1/2 back with 12 games to play
            With less than a month remaining in the regular season, the Monmouth University men's baseball team finds itself in a pennant race. Following a double-header split with Central Connecticut State University on Saturday and a 4-3 win on Sunday, the Hawks are 26-14 overall, and 10-5 in Northeast Conference play. That puts them one and one-half games back of Mount St.

      Notes from another fine day on the bay
            Before the storm last week I got reports from N.J. Saltwater Fisherman, Joey Gahrmann and his brother Chuck Gahrmann, both from East Brunswick, along with their buddy Scott McCall from Hillsborough, who fished the Raritan Bay area near buoy 11 for Chuck's birthday.

            After a couple of successful season as a member of the Cecil Community College (North East, MD.) men's basketball team, Keyron Sheard, of Red Bank, will continue his playing career at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

      Rumson girls post fast 4x400 at Penn Relays
            The Penn Relays can bring out the best in track and field athletes, and that was the case for the area's scholastic stars. Rumson-Fair Haven's girl's 4x400 relay team turned its best time of the year and nudged closer to a sub-4:00 clocking with their 4:02.10. The quartet of Gabriel Kelly, Jaime Carrol, Sara Robinson and Melissa Bellin finished sixth in their heat of the 4x400.
