Red Bank schools invite participation
RED BANK -- The borough school district Board of Education is seeking to fill five committees with members of the community.
According to a letter sent out in April, "The Board of Education welcomes the active participation of residents of Red Bank who have expertise in areas directly related to curriculum and instruction, policy design, community relations, finance and facilities."
Schools Superintendent Laura Morana said, "It's not so much expertise as knowledge and interest. For someone who works in finance ... or as a teacher elsewhere, the content will be familiar."
We are inviting the community to participate, and see how decisions are made, and that a great deal of thought and planning goes into the process."
The invitation explains that all committees are advisory, and report to the board, which takes final action.
The community relations committee is charged with improving "strategies for effective and broad dissemination of information about program offerings."
The curriculum, instruction and technology committee "reviews, develops and recommends long-range plans for curriculum design, implementation and evaluation," while the finance committee "develops a long-range plan to support and monitor the district's financial operation," and the policy committee "participates in the development and revision of board policies in collaboration with administrators." The maintenance and facilities committee "reviews and analyzes the long-range facilities plan and recommends improvements."
To volunteer for a committee, call Annie Darrow, school business administrator/board secretary at (732) 758-1503 or e-mail to: darrowa@rbb.k12.nj.us.
