"Speaking of Art …," a contemporary speaker series at the Shore Institute of the Contemporary Arts (SICA) in Long Branch, will present an intaglio printing demonstration Friday by Molly Johnson. Johnson produces primarily print-based and mixed-media works on paper, and has exhibited widely. The discussion begins at 7:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public. The second annual Sounds of the Highlands concert will take place Saturday, June 16, at 2 p.m. at Central Baptist Church, 28 E. Highland Ave. Presented by the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council, the afternoon of classical music, folk and jazz will showcase local musicians. During the first half of the program, enjoy art songs from the Romantic era and a rousing piano, violin and cello trio. The Count Basie Theatre's "Cool School Spring Showcase" will take place Monday, June 18, at 6:30 p.m., at the theater, 99 Monmouth St. in Red Bank. Tickets: $10, $8 seniors and students. The Cool School is the arts education program offering classes with seasoned professionals for aspiring actors, musicians and dancers of all ages. The Cool School showcase is the end-of-term performance and provides an opportunity for students to perform before a live audience.
The Monmouth Conservatory of Music in Red Bank is offering a free Voice Master Class with faculty member Patrick Marques at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 23. You do not have to be an advanced singer to attend. The class will focus on proper vocal technique, pronunciation and musicality, both through demonstration and work with breath support, proper posture and releasing tone. Old Crow Medicine Show brings its all-acoustic country, bluegrass, folk and rock sound to the Count Basie Theatre Thursday, June 21 at 8 p.m. The group sold out Webster Hall in N.Y.C. this spring, and appear at the Bonnaroo Music Festival this year, but the Basie's dedication to new music brings them to Red Bank!

The festival, presented by Small Dog Electronics, awards prizes to filmmakers in three categories: Student Film, Indie Film and The Kitchen Sink. Winners will be determined by viewer ratings, along with the festival jury, which includes Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.
This is the second year for the festival, with last year's edition billed as "the world's first" iPod film festival. The films will be available for download until June 28, which will also mark the end of judging.
