Monmouth County Arts Council (MCAC) Executive Director Mary Eileen Fouratt and council President Peter J. Lyden III proudly display The Thomas H. Kean Partnership in Philanthropy Award for 2007. MCAC received the award at the Partnership in Philanthropy's annual dinner held recently at NJPAC, Newark. The Kean Award, presented each year to a former client, recognizes a nonprofit organization's success in utilizing PIP's technical assistance to its best advantage and achieving outstanding results. "An Evening of Cinema and Citizen Action" will take place Friday, 7 p .m., at the Jersey Shore Arts Center in Ocean Grove. The special program marks the anniversary of Kelo Day, the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision that broadly expanded the use of eminent domain for private development. There will be a panel discussion with Dana Berliner, litigator for the public-interest law firm Institute for Justice and co-counsel on the Kelo vs. New London case. The program also features a special in-the-works screening of "Greetings from Asbury Park," a documentary by Asbury Park filmmaker Christina Eliopoulos. The Jazz Alive - Asbury Park series will wrap up at the Asbury Park Jazz Festival Saturday, June 30 at 2:30 p.m. in Sunset Park, with a performance by the Brazilian trumpet master Claudio Roditi and his quintet. Jazz Alive - Asbury Park is a collaboration of the Jazz Arts Project, the Black Box Theatre of Asbury Park and the Monmouth County Arts Council. This performance is free and open to the public. Visit www.jazzartsproject.org. The Monmouth Conservatory of Music in Red Bank is offering a free Voice Master Class with faculty member Patrick Marques at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 23. You do not have to be an advanced singer to attend. The class will focus on proper vocal technique, pronunciation and musicality, both through demonstration and work with breath support, proper posture and releasing tone. The Belford Art Show will run through June 29 at the Middletown Township Public Library, 55 New Monmouth Road.
