            Marcus Goode likes to needle his dad about his athletic career.He'll tell his dad, Milt Goode, that his paper clippings are yellow and have 19 in front of the year. That's old to the Freehold Township High School senior-to-be. "It's my time now," he'll tell dad, and that's just fine with Milt.

      Jersey Shore team wins a Carpenter's Cup title
            Score one for the Shore.Anyone who has been watching Shore Conference softball over the last few years knows the overall talent in the area has improved dramatically. The area's best has proven it can play with the state's best come state tournament time, and one recent graduate, Freehold Borough's Ashley Forsyth, held the state record for career strikeouts.

            Mike DeCorso no longer looks at the Jersey Shore Basketball League as a summer tune-up for college. The former Colts Neck High School star is now a college graduate (New York University) looking to play professionally, possibly in Europe or Australia.

      English Channel wins United Nations once again
      Bravo gets win No. 4,000 on July 4
            OCEANPORT - Jim Scatuorchio's English Channel broke his own course record at Monmouth Park Saturday as he powered his way to a one-length victory in the 54th running of the $750,000 United Nations Stakes Presented by TVG (G1). Sent off the 3-5 favorite in the field of five, English Channel tracked the pace-setting Fri Guy for most of the mile and three-eighths on firm turf.

      Fluke action remaining hot as temperatures rise

            Starting down south out of Barnegat Light, Capt. Steve on the Reelfantasea went out at night with Steve Santoro, executive chef of Frescos in Manhattan, and son Marco for a three-hour evening trip to find birds on top with plenty of bluefish below.
